AbstractThis study examined the effect of distance in
international business research: a research Agenda in Enugu State University of
Science and Technology (ESUT). The study examined the effect of distance on
international business transaction. The effect of distance on business research
in Nigeria. This seminar paper equally determined the effect distance on the
development of research agenda in ESUT. The population of the study consists of 1872 staff of Enugu State
University of Science and Technology. The
study used the survey approach. The primary sources used were used to
administer 290 copies of questionnaire to the sampled staff of the institution,
282 were returned and accurately filled. The validity of the instrument was
tested using content analysis and the result was good. The reliability was
tested using the Pearson correlation coefficient (r). It gave a reliability
co-efficient of 0.86 which was also good. The hypotheses were analyzed using
f-statistics (ANOVA). The result of the study shows that distance has
significant effect on international business transaction. It was also observed
that distance influences business research in Nigeria. The study further showed
that distance influences the development of research agenda in ESUT. Different
institutional aspects impact the entry mode decision in different ways and
therefore, in order to capture the range of pressures that distance exerts on
business research, researchers should consider all these aspects together. In
addition, institutional distance may interact with firm and project
