Abstract This study assessed the performance of companies’ on the base of their financial statement. The study specifically examined the; effect of financial statement on profitability position of companies, use of financial statement in performance assessment and way accounting techniques helps business organization in determining their financial position. Data for the study was sourced through primary and secondary sources of data collection. Data collected were analysed using tables, percentages and histogram. Hypotheses raised were tested using Pearson Correlation. Result of the analysis shows that efficiency of financial statement is greatly affected by inflationary trends in the economy. It was also observed that financial statements are relevant in assessing the performance of companies.  The study further shows that accounting techniques help business organization in determining their financial position. Based on the findings, the researcher recommends that Bond-holders should use long-term indicators, such as the enterprises capital structure, past and projected earnings and change in financial position. Management should use other-ratio decision making techniques to confirm the reliability of computed ratios.
