ABSTRACT
This study examined the prospects and
challenges of green accounting in Oil & Gas firms in Nigeria: Evidences
from selected financial institutions in South East Nigeria. The study
specifically examined if there is any growth in the economy as a result of
practice of green accounting, The study also examined the prospects and
challenges of green accounting practice in Nigeria economy, The study employed
survey design method, a total population of 353 respondents participated,. The
findings indicates that there are some level of growth in the economy as a result of green accounting practice The
study concluded that there are huge prospects for green accounting practice in
our economy, but there still remain challenges that need to be tackled. The
study therefore recommended that Laws and principles guiding the green
accounting needs to be updated and made
more simply and easy.
