ABSTRACTThis work is the design of a model for a 132/33KV substation protection
scheme using MATLAB GUI for its programming and simulation. In carrying out
this design, a 132/33KV transmission substation with 2 x 30MVA transformer was
considered. Short circuit analyses were carried out on 132KV and 33KV busbars
to determine different short circuit currents. These values were used to select
current transformers, circuit breakers lighting arresters and relays. Also
using standard equations, substation earthen parameters were obtained. Finally,
a protection scheme which intercept fault current and passes it through the low
resistance path to the earth is hereby presented.
